There is one more beautiful Island which is famous as Krabi .Krabi is a town (thesaban mueang) on the west coast of southern Thailand at the mouth of the Krabi River into the Andaman Sea. It has a population of 24,986 as on 2005. It is the capital of Krabi Province and Krabi district. Tourism has become the most important feature of Krabi today, with its beautiful beaches and unspoiled islands.
It is now a top destination for beach and islands lovers. It is also famous for its national parks including Hat Noppharat Thara, Ao Nang, Railay, Ko Phi Phi National Park. There are over 80 smaller islands such as Lanta islands,or Koh Lanta, Phi Phi (pronounced 'Pee- Pee)islands - made famous as the ideal location for adventeres, yachtsmen, scuba-divers, snorkellers and day-trippers from Phuket.
In the Krabi province there is National park known as Ko Lanta including several coral-fringed islands, is well-known diving sites. It is the largest island, Ko Lanta Yai, is the site of park headquarters, and is also home to Chao Le or sea gypsies who sustain themselves largely through fishing. The best season is during the non-monsoon months of October through April.
Among the top activities, Kayaking, sailing, birdwatching, snorkelling are very famous. It gives opportunities for the people to go for trekking and eco- tours.
The Krabi town, too, is far cheaper than any of the tourist resorts – which is reflected in the price of food and drinks especially. There are two night markets in Krabi town that are worth to look at, at night there is a charming night market close to the promenade next to the piers.
We can find better market on Maharat Soi (Lane) 10 in the centre of town. It has plenty of fresh fruit and lots of authentic cooked food. It doesn’t sell alcohol.
